Everyone has a story, I'd love to say mine is one of greatness .... but I'm just an everyday woman with a simple philosophy; Life, you choose how you live it and you choose how you view it.
Our society loves stereotypes. Why is that? It allows us to identify with others by placing them into socially defined categories. Is it a good or a bad thing?
What if you find yourself identifying with more than one stereotype? What if you find your profession, or passions or characteristics move across multiple stereotypes? Is that even possible?
I say it is.......
Personally, I have always struggled with fitting into a single stereotype. I finished school, went to university, studied marketing and advertising and worked in fashion retail on the weekends for years. When I graduated, I was offered an opportunity to move into the head office role as a buyer for a national retail chain. Whilst I loved the industry after 7 years in fashion, I felt the urge to develop into something more challenging and my dream had always been to run my own company and I knew that I would never be satisfied until I did. I set out to change direction, and moved into human resources and recruitment. Having always loved dealing with people and problem solving, it seemed like a wise choice. I joined a HR consultancy firm in the CBD and after a few years, made Partner and then in 2010 took a financial share as joint Director. The most rewarding thing to me are the mentoring and leadership values I have learned. The greatest satisfaction is when I see an employee blossom and achieve their goals, their gratitude makes its all worthwhile. It's those moments that drive me.....
Throughout the past decade many other passions have developed, I began hosting Charity Luncheons in 2006 and continued this for 5 years under the "Ladies Luncheon" banner raising money for breast cancer and womens domestic violence shelters.
From a young age I have always loved to cook and had a creative flair for food styling therefore in 2015 I started a small catering business specialising in dessert and grazing tables for weddings and other events.
Through all of this, my mantra to perform at an optimum level is a healthy mind is the result of a healthy lifestyle. Keeping fit and active and maintaining a clean and low-tox lifestyle has been a driving force behind everything I do.
Through this in March 2016, the desire ignited in me to share with the world and empower other women through a digital influence platform. An Instagram blog centered around living a clean, healthy and active lifestyle whilst being a lover of fashion and surrounded by luxury........
Most would read the paragraph above and say, but how can you love all of those things?
Clean living and fashion aren't generally terms you would read in the same sentence after all? A corporate business woman and a fashion blogger who runs wellness events and styles grazing tables for weddings?
If your intention is pure, and unadulterated by obligation and expectation then naturally all the versions of you will be authentic.
Welcome in the new stereotype.... THE MODERN DAY WOMAN.
She is one of many talents, many passions and even many more pursuits. All true versions of herself depending on which day and what time of the day.
She wears many hats and they all fit.
She dances to the beat of her own drum and she is in all of us........
