Please tell us your story of how you started Insite Mind?
As an accountant on her way to becoming the CFO, I was good at what I did… so they put me in charge of 13 people! (13!) My team consisted of 13 different personalities with 13 different personal realities. With no management experience, I fumbled my way in a leadership role, where this task focused person needed to now understand people!
I started my personal development journey and uncovered emotional intelligence. This was the missing piece for me. I discovered that technical abilities had only to do with a small degree of what made people successful and emotional intelligence was the key.
This information was too powerful to just “happen” across, so I decided to create a corporate program. With this, I took the leap and went out on my own, coaching and mentoring across organisations in Perth. I loved it, but I also noticed that whilst people were motivated in a coaching session, they needed more when I wasn’t with there to inspire them.
Insite Mind was born. Our products aim to inspire, motivate and teach people personal development, helping them to access the well of happy days that I believe we all have inside of us. Our range is designed to open up personal development in a beautiful, fun and tangible way making it normal and part of our everyday life!
Our products are designed to help people #findfifteen to work on their mindset each day, it’s the non-fluff emotional stuff with practical tools and steps to guide you along the way!
We have also launched our Positive Mindset Academy teaching the everyday person how to add mindset into their business. A missing link, for most businesses!
What has been the biggest life lesson you have learnt so far?
To look inside for the answer. Too often we canvas everyone else for their opinion too quickly without exploring our own inner Mentor. I believe we have a well of wisdom inside that is ready when we are quiet enough to listen.
How do you feel women have been affected by stereotypes?
I have recently become a mum and have been opened up to a new world where women feel like they need to be super human. To DO everything for everyone. To be the wife, the mother, the business women, the cleaner, the chef, the chauffeur, the teacher… the list goes on.
Somewhere along the line, self-worth becomes attached to these outcomes and in this role, women become Human Doings and lose sight of their true sense of Human Being… where we alone are enough.
We need to let go of doing everything and having it mean something about who we are.
I am enough is statement that should role off our tongues and with this the world if your Oyster.
What do you believe your secret to success is, in balancing your passions and pursuits?
I have always been a doer and I am one to say, I can do this! I have a habit of putting a lot on my plate as I love what I do, so spending time managing my mindset through meditation, relaxation and reflection are apart of my everyday routine. I practice what I preach. I believe that balance comes from within, not from the focus of tasks you do every day. Balance is not about 50% one thing and 50% another, but a sense of calm + clarity that can only be found once we relax our minds. (This is coming from the person who would leave at the end of a yoga class and use the meditation time to DO something… so I have come a long way!)
What advice would you give to other women out there who want to start their own business but don’t know where to start?
Follow your curiosity. Think about what you love doing and could do all day. Then start to understand why you love it… the more specific you can get, the more you can uncover your business why, which is so important when you take your passion to market. Your why is like light filtered through a magnifying glass and is the power that will help your business succeed. It will be the focal point you will come back to time and time again, so setting it early is key.
Oh and don’t give up your day job too soon! Ensure you have a good pipeline of business before you take the plunge. Too many people take the leap and instead of their passion becoming their focus, the stress of money can overshadow your daily work.
