How many identities do you have?
My identity is incorporated into my multiple business ventures: @chloepotteryoga, @heartyourbodyperth and @luxeathlete. Promoting self love and health is a large part of how I see myself, and I aim to practice what I preach each and every day.
Please share with us a little on your journey of life….
I’ve done many different things to come to where I am today, I was a dancer I studied at WAAPA with a BA in contemporary dance. I also practiced & performed Capoeira for 20 years a Brazilian Martial arts. I was a health & lifestyle coordinator in the corporate industry running events, health initiatives, talks & workshops. Basically, as a kid I was known as Chloe, that girl who’s always walking around upside down on her hands!
What has been the most defining moment in your life so far?
I think that would be the end of a relationship 5 years ago, it was a very unhappy time in my life but the growth from the fallout defined who I am today & really made me question what I want in life, who I want to be surrounded by & the message I had to share. I was in a place where I was very unhappy but had no idea, I learnt to question what made ME happy & went on a journey of self care & self love.
What do you hope to achieve with Heart Your Body?
My business partner & I really want to share self love, acceptance & healthy body image with other woman & girls. No one should feel like they are not enough because of looks, other people or outside influences. We have both had very different yet similar journeys to get to where we are today & we want to share what we’ve learnt along the way & create a tribe of women & girls who believe in themselves. I know I have have personally grown with HYB, when your talking about self love & self care all the time, it starts to create change in yourself & all around you. We’ve definitely both grown together as heart your body has grown.
What inspires you to do what you do every day?
A few things, but mainly this insatiable, crazy & unstoppable creative energy that just keeps me waking up excited about life everyday. There is so much to make, create & be part of. I believe everything you do has to somehow create change & growth no matter how small your contribution is.
What is your secret to balancing your multiple identities?
I’m not sure but when you find it let me know!! In all seriousness, I think it’s a constant evolution, finding balance is a constant battle of finding space. There a few things I do to wind down & try and practice daily, nana naps in the afternoon, even if I don’t fall asleep just resting for a while helps, I also love letting go with a bit of Netflix binge watching & this year I’ve booked holidays in my yearly calendar so I actually have to go & take time out. For me, balance is about finding space in the busy even if it’s in a small way, finding self care.
What advice would you give to other women out there who are fearful to break outside their comfort zones?
I’ve always been a ‘feel the fear & do it anyway’ kind of girl. The biggest thing anyone can do is be brave enough to realise there dreams & then go out & make them. I am a firm believer in manifestation & I practice this daily. Fear is just a thing, it doesn’t even exist, so go out there, be brave & as corny as it sounds follow your dreams.
